Looking for some subs, confused with all the options

I have been browsing the forums here and at SD for a few days now. I've got a pretty good idea of some things I want but I need some recommendations for a few subs/amps to look at.

I want to put a SQL system in a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. To give you an idea of how loud I want it to be, I have heard my friends 2 12W6v2s on a 500/1 (don't flame me, haha) with his factory Bose and they overpowered the stock speakers. They were in a ported box in a Tahoe. I would like my bass to sound as good as his but I think theres def other options than JL.

I am willing to spend about $300 on a sub alone.

I want to go with 1 12 instead of 2, to save space.

So far I have been looking at;

IDmax12

any of the internet brand subs, I cant sort them out..too many that I don't know about.

I want to power the sub with 400-800 watts.

I don't want to have to upgrade my electrical system, I don't care to be that loud.

I am looking at CDT doors (CLs or HDs most likely).

I havent decided between ported or sealed. I listen to all music but mainly rock & country, not much rap.

Well if anyone can help recommend me some subs/amps to look at and things to consider (what type box is better for what style music, what subs perform well in those boxes, subs that perform well with the size amps I am looking at..) It is greatly appreciated...

Thanks guys!

The IDMAX 12 is a good choice power it with a 1000watt amp put it in a ported box tuned lowaround28hz and youll love it. For amps i would suggest a DIAMOND AUDIO D5 1000wattmono amp or a PERCISION POWER 1000 watt mono amp. Also look into the DIAMOND AUDIO TDX 12 it is a very good SQ sub that can get loud and it would be perfect with the DIAMOND AUDIO D5 1000 watt mono amp.

sweet, i've been meaning to check out that rl-p and i've heard great things about ppi. what do you guys think about eclipse subs, i heard some that sounded great...

i'd suggest the rl-p as well..i love mine in 1.25ft^3 sealed off 750wrms..

and right now u can get the rl-pd2 in a group buy for $199...pm squeak here to get the 411 or go to http://www.teamssaudio.com and look for the soundsplinter forum..u can also email mike@soundsplinter.com directly to get some info and in touch with brad(squeak)

i've got a d2 model and it's running off a hifonics nemesis nx750d...and i'd suggest 750-800wrms for urs..be it d2 or d4..

amp brands..mtx, hifonics, memphis, orion and kicker all come to mind.

comps..those cdt's would be sweet..

my suggestion...

12" rl-pd2 in 1.25-1.5ft^3 sealed

cdt or memphis mssynq or sq comps all the way around

memphis belle mc1300 to power all of it! bestest 5 channel amp going IMO...

eclipses subs r very good get pretty loud and sound good but teh prices ive seen have been really high. the rl-p seems to the best bet as of now.because of the price. i think u jus missed teh group buy for rl-p's as well, but i donno much about ppi but i a jbl 1200.1 that would run an rl-p very good.

due to some tc sounds slyness...the group buy is extended to about 15 lucky subs..till the end of may...

12" rl-p d2 for $199..limited supply...may 31 cut off date for price...whatever is left over will go to standard rl-p 12 pricing...

could i use that with the 4 channels at 75 watts @ 4 ohms and the 5th channel @ 1 ohm on the sub, or the 5th @ 2 ohms..

how much watts does the rl-p need to sound nice, not looking to break windows here, just want to sound very good and be able to turn up when im in the moood...

yes..u could use it with the 4 channels @ 4ohm and the sub channel at either 1 or 2 ohm..

the rl-p gets plenty loud off 500wrms or so..so it would be up to u. i'd recommend getting the 2ohm model if ur going to be ordering soon just ot take advantage of the GB price of $199. u would then be running at 1 ohm and have plenty of head room if u decided to really crank it.

oh yeah, don't forget to mention me to mike when u order..lol..i need the referral!

of course, if ur in no big hurry to buy (the GB price ends may 31 and there is only a limited number of the d2's available), then u could always opt for the d4 later...and still be under ur $300 budget for the sub.

what does rl-p sound like? i think i mainly want a SQ sub but I think that could be a really wide term because some people have SQ systems and don't have subs, and some people have systems with loud subs but in the proper enclosure still sounds great..

How do all of these subs compare to w6v2, rf hx2, kicker l7s, more of the bigger known subs..

Eclipse is made by the same company that makes the Soundplinter subs: TC Sounds. Either are great options....I loved my Eclipse Alums (TC7) and I presently love my Rl-p (TC9).

IMHO the Rl-p sounds better than the HX2 or L7.....hard to say with the W6v2, I've never heard one in a car, only in the sound booths at the local shop.
