What Is the actual impedance for the coils on my subs?

I have dual 4's on my L7s... And I have two 12s as you can see. What i was wondering is what is the actual ohm load coming from the 4ohm coils? Im looking to wire it down to 0ne ohm and if I do, would it be over or under one ohm? Did this make any sense to anybody lol?

Thanks

You want an exact measurment? Check it with a multimeter. But youll have impedance rise when they are in the box, so dont worry if the coils read too low or whatever.

do you want the dc resistance? cuz you can check that w/ a multimeter. If you want what ohm load your amps will actually see, good luck. you have to account for back emf which is dependent on your enclsoure and frequency. If you just want to wire 2 dual 4 ohm subs to 1 ohm, thats easy, everything in parallel

If you have 4 L7's, they need to be dual 2ohm to wire to a final ohm load //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I think he said he has 2 dual 4 l7s which can give him a 1 ohm load if everything is wired parallel

Z is the nominal impedance, so that'd be either 2 or 8 ohms, for a 4 ohm DVC driver. Now the DCR will necessarily be lower than that. An honestly rater 4 ohm coil should have a DCR of less than 3-3.2 ohms. DCR is the lowest impedance the driver can EVER see, in any box. In actual use the driver will rarely if ever present that low of a load.

The actual impedance varies with frequency. This is easy to see if you look at an impedance plot for any given speaker/box combo. It changes rather considerably, depending on the frequency.

My SET can technically drive a dead short, although below 2 ohms per channel or so, the power gains are minimal...
elaborate please on the dead short.....

here is an impedance plot i did w/ my 2 15's in a 6ft box tuned at 23hz, dual 4's wired to a 1ohm final load....

(just for an example)

almost dead short: 0.000000001 ohm. Etc.

When You wire a quad 0.7 coil in parrellel to 0.175 nominal... that is near a dead short. If the actual imp. ever gets that low.
