Looking for Shallow Mount Subwoofers

Let me start off this thread by saying I don't know exactly what I want.

With that said, here's the situation:

I have a '92 Caprice wagon. I want to do shallow mount subs in the footwell of the 3rd row seat. This is kind of what I'm dealing with here:

I can put the amp and wiring in the side compartment so it's hidden out of view and not in danger of being kicked by passengers, but I can't really do that with the subs (at least, I don't think... anyone with one of these wagons feel free to enlighten me). I figure shallow mounts would be the best because then there will be the least amount of space of the foot area taken away by the subs.

Thoughts? Anyone recommend good shallow subs? I'm a college student on a pretty low budget, I don't want to see some super expensive subs I could never afford. Looking for insight.

what are your exact dimensions? If you don't wanna down fire I'd run SA-8's because then you have a 10 inch tall box instead of running a shallow 10 or 12 which gives you a pretty tall box. If you want to down fire you could do the Stereo Integrity BMKII or the Memphis S-Class. and get away with a box only 5 inches tall, but you'll need to have about 11 inches of floor space to even do 10's.

I'll measure the dimensions of the area tomorrow after work. I'm not against downfiring subs if I can get a box made out of something really sturdy (Plexiglas maybe? I don't know...). The area gets a fair amount of foot traffic, mostly from my little cousins so keeping wires hidden is the main priority. If they walk on the TOP of the box, I don't think I'd care - they're small kids they shouldn't be able to do too much damage, right? But I want to maximize the amount of space open in the foot area, because occasionally some of my college friends like to sit back there (it IS pretty ******... lol)
