Alright, looking for some recommendations, I have another big thread and Car Audio General. But I would like to start a seperate thread here.

I just blew my brothers old 2001 MTX 6000 refurbished subs.

Loved them while they lasted... I shorted the amp, it went into protection mode, I dont know why.. I think I might of tuned the amp a little to high, put the sensativity a little to high.. But I will check/get this checked out once I get my amp back.

Anyways to the problem.. I want 2 10" speakers good for my Phoenix Gold Xenon 600.1 Amp..

I was looking at Alpine Type S but I cant find any reviews on them.

I really dont know much about the box other then it is custom made and it holds 10" speakers, and I know that doesn't help really. I wish I knew about it, but it was my brothers that I took off his hands..

So please any input on the Alpine Type S or any other sub woofer that would be better for bang for the buck.

I can get these in store with 1 year warranty and free installation for 139.99

Can't go wrong with kicker comps. Alot of time, circuit city has them on sale buy one get one free.

See if you can find those thunders online too, those things hit pretty fn hard i have heard them in action before.

I was actually thinking about CVR but I am not really a kicker person and then some one told me who is a kicker person that they sound really well but blow easily...

I don't know how much truth is behind it but thats what they said...

I sent a 10" CVR of mine 1000w for a while... took it like a champ. Your friend doesn't know how to set gains //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Yeah, I am trying to keep a budget here with the same equipment I have 600 watt rms amp I have 1200watt peak..

I am somewhat thinking to spend the extra dough on the type r's..

You think its worth it? to spend it on the the r's and forget the s?

Hehe, so no love here for type s speakers? are Type R much better then Type S?
yes in every way

type S = stamped steel basket

Type R= Cast basket

type r's take a LOT more abuse in general and have a bigger voice coil/ better cooling for the coil

for the extra bucks i would go type r any day

[ps ] i own a type S and it wangs but ya the type r owns it

I am on a budget here.... I am here for my own satisfaction I just want a system that will be reliable and that I wont blow.. Like my MTX 6000 did.. Well they lasted for 7 years but when they got handed to be they lasted 6 months...

I think my 600WATT RMS amp will be ok with the TYPE S.. I think my amp may have been a little to large for the subs I had that blew..

Anyhow, I would spend the extra money the type R depending on how much the difference is in price lets say if its a 20-40 dollar difference and I dont need to change amps.

And if I dont change amps if it will still sound as good.. I know that alpine type r 10inch are what 500WATT RMS? and if I get 2 my 600WATT amp will not power them for crap...

So probably the type s would do better for my amp.. I dunno unless some one suggest differently for the type r please do.
