Hey every 0ne,

New to the board!

Im looking for some more bass but don't want to go to a complete SPL woofer. I been a JL audio fan for some time, but i'm just not impressed with them any more. seems like there subs cant handle power.

I am currently interest in a Boston Acoustic G5, but have looks at other such as Alpine Type R, SI BM..

Do any one have any info on if the G5 is good for SQL?

Any opinions/ Info is appreciated!

Thanks

Daniel

saying jl sub can't hndel power is like saying.......well thats not saying anything at all. Maybe you need a subwoofer with a higher power rating than ones you have tried

have you tried the w7 line of subwoofer. If yes, then look for some subwoofers that can handle 1500-2000 watts. If you have not tried the w7 series and still want to stay with JL those subs will handel plenty of power

I have a W6, i feel it sound nice, but doesn't want to bump much...

Sounds like an enclosure problem... but I guess how much something bumps is subjective //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I hear the same about w6's haha... But there's so many options... I have an RE SE10 and it sounds great and gets loud... I'm sure a couple 12" SEs would be a nice setip. As would the G5's I imagine. Or the forum boner brand AQ... a couple sdc2.5's would be a nice option //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Are you planning on using the same amp for the new subs or buying a new one with them? Because the RE SE's will gladly take twice that per driver if its clean power... I hear the same thing about the AQ sdc2.5s... Although when I was putting ~200 wrms to my SE it still sounded great, but no where near as loud as it is now with ~800 wrms going to it.

ok.. ill be straight forward with you, im looking for 12's that will take 400-500 rms, that can be wired to 2 ohms, when together. My amp is a Rock Ford Fosgate Bd 1000 plays 1000 rms at 2 ohms.

so far my only candidate is the Boston Acoustic G5 single 4 ohms

if you have any other ideas, glad to listen to them...

Hmm that would rule out the AQs, are they are only offered in a D4 configuration... which would give you give you a 1 ohm load... However the SEs are now offered in D2 also which would give you the 2 ohm load you're looking for, so that would be the route I would go with that power.

How is the SQ and SPL of the SE? I was looking into the G5 Because it has nice SQ and SPL from what i have read and heard..

Any idea what would be better?

Also do you know of a place to purchase RE audio Items?

SE says it 600 RMS, i don't think my amp will be able to power 2 subs efficiently....
