Looking for good amp under 300

I have 2 Rockford Fostgate HE2 12" subs. I think they are 2ohm. I am looking for an amp under $300 that will sufficiently power these subs (400w rms)

check the used audio. there is a JBL 1200.1 for 220.

I woud spend a tad more, and get a new one for around $300.

Actually, I checked the back of the magnet and they are 4 ohm. So what amp can i get then? thanks

I've had suggestions to go with the phoenix gold tantrum 1200.1 and JBL BP1200.1 Does anyone know of any other amps under 300 or approve of the ones mentioned?

I'm guessing you have dual 4-ohm. Wired properly this will be a 1 or 4 ohm load.

I second the JBL over the Hifonics. (I have never owned either)

The only problem is the JBL doesn't state it's 1 ohm stable, but it is rated 787W x 1 @ 4 Ohms, so it should be just right for your two 12s with expandability for later.

Also, is this amp going to maximize power to my subs. I don't know much about wiring, but I do know that my subs are 400rms. if its 787x1 at 4 ohms. doesnt that mean its sending 393w rms to each sub?

i've got an amp that would work well with those subs...an avionixx 800.2, 800x1 @ 4 ohms mono. check my FS thread for more info.
