Looking for Double Din head unit

Whats are some quality double din head units that don't come with a tape player and that preferably aren't silver? I currently have a factory 6 disc in dash changer for my cougar and want to get new speakers and a sub, so I figured it may be time to get a new head unit. Price range I'd consider.....perferably less than $800. Thanks in advance for the help.

ALPINE has one thats nice but it is trimed in silver and has a tape player

their are others i like this one look wish the best and alll the ones ive seen so far have tape players.but ill check around some more and see what i can find

All of the double DIN units I've seen being offered in the US look like

crap... The Alpine is no exception. It is about the ugliest thing I have

ever seen and you couldn't pay me to put it in my dash...

But in Japan you get cool looking units like this:

That one does look pretty sweet. Why the hell would japan get better looking head units than us? Anyway, keep the suggestions coming; I appreciate the help.

I got to have that Japanese Alpine!!!!!!!!! Anyone know how? And would it be compatable..The buttons look to be in english....Gotta Gotta have it!!! I've been looking for a mp3 double dinn forever now....

Be aware that the Japanese FM band is completely different than the US. You wouldn't get any stations with a HU intended for the Japanese market.

Thats not EXACLTY correct about the FM band, it´s true that it only goes up to 88-89 Mhz, but if you search the web you will find some gadgets that can make your headunit receive the american signals, the only thing is that you will have to be adding 20 mhz to get the desired band. e.g. If you want to tune 95.5, you will have to set the radio to 77.5, and so on

Anybody know of any other good double din head units? I have a 96 Lumina and would kind of like to get rid of the area around my headunit. I actually have a 1.5 Din headunit. GM just has to be a pain in the a$$ sometimes huh? I like the Japanese ones. Those are pretty sweet. Just curious if anyone knows of some good 1.5 din units.
