Looking for build advice

Im looking for build advice, I want to install speakers in my van, got about €2000 euro to spend on it and looking for a good setup, was looking at some 18" FI btl subs but not sure if they would fit... I have the dimensions of the van below, any suggestions on what I could set up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Load compartment:

1,781 (l) x 1,558 (w) x 1,257 (h)

Volume 3.2m3

cheers thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Grand Caravan? or Caddy Sportline?

3.2m3 = 111.5 cubic feet, from what I'm seeing.

Realistically, you could do a lottt with that

BTL's will fit fine, what I would also consider(with that much space) would be lower-powered 18's, possibly RE SX's or similar to save yourself some on the power/money/electrical aspect of things...

In inches, for you guys, he has 70 x 61 x 49.5 for an area to work with, which comes out to 122^ft? Somethings wrong with my calculations

Point is, are you wanting to do a wall, or are you wanting a HUGE box below the window line?

8 18" woofers in a 4th order design would be fun - - - - similar to what Steve Meade did with Chickens 'Lade the "Hoopty" or whatever they called it

Instead, you could use lesser woofers, such as RE SX's or similar, and 8k rms instead of shittons more, save money by only needing 4 or so extra battereies and a single extra alternator.

Its the caddy sportline... i think.. glad to hear i could do alot //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

I was thinking of a wall, but the a huge box sounds good too, the RE SX's are lower powered.., so I might consider that, would i fit a 4th order design in the back? what about them huge amps for the fi btls, or am i wrong?

could I have 4 18s, each side of the van, and leave some room in there, not sure what all id need,

any basic knowledge would go along way for me lol

thanks again guys

You would need to either be able to build a base to start from, and be able to follow a design to the tee, or you'd need some help over there in Ireland, and I dont know of any competitors over there who could currently help you.

You COULD just do 4 18's and try to keep your second row seats in...but that's up to you...

The BTL's need AT LEAST 2,000 RMS per woofer, preferably 2500+ each

The SX's or something similar I'm sure you would be more happy with. You can run them with 1k rms each and they'll be happy, or you can push upwards of 1300-1400 and push them to their limits

You need to let us know what you want. If you do not care about having any seats other than the front two, then there's a lot we can do.

Thing is, if you spend all 2,000 EUR on the subs, amps, and batteries, then you still have to buy a CD player/headunit, an equalizer, door speakers and amplifiers to push them

Is it your goal to spend 2,000 for EVERYTHING? If so, we need to re-think a lot of this //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Right, well am glad your helping me with this lol, Its only the standard van I got, no seats in it at all part from the front two, like the pic above. I dont mind spending a bit more, 3-4 maybe... but for the min, we will stick at 3000. I would be good at building it, although I would need help and advice somewhere, Whats the full list of Items Id need, say for 4 18" Fi btls, subs, batteries, another altenator, amps take up much room? Cheers again

Four FI BTL's

Realistically, Four Sundown 3000D's or something(we can find an alternative, I'm sure...that's a TON of money right there)

A nice alternator, which will run you probably 350 USD

Batteries, with 12k rms I'd say at least 6-7 Group 31 batteries...

Wire KnuKonceptz 1/0 more than likely...

Multiple sets of components with amplifiers or you can go with horns and midbasses, something a bit different

Head Unit...

There's just so many options and so much stuff.

That's a sweet little van, by the way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

So you'd like to just do four 18's? Would a 1,000 RMS woofer or similar be of interest to you, or do you want "superwoofers'' ? You will still be PLENTY loud with a good enclosure, 6k rms and four 18's...

thanks for the list //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif thats not too bad

, but sure ill be on here when i need help with it all, asking the professionals lol

cheers by the way, once it sounds good and loud, but define "superwoofers" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

what type of enclose am i looking at?

maybe 8 of the 15" is the way to go....

Well, a standard flat wall you should have room to do 4 18's or 8 15's either one. If you want to do 8 18's, which I'm not sure if you have room, you would have to do a diamond or something of that nature.

SuperWoofer = BTL, RD Heavyweight, RE XXX, FI BTL, something that is an SPL-Oriented woofer that can be used in a daily application. Pretty much, I meant any sub that requires in excess of 2500 RMS daily to run lol

8 15"s sounds more like it, still have plenty if room, 8 18s mite be a little bit much for me lol, So if i had 4 15s each side of the wall, what else would I be looking at //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

ah I see now, could I put them against the back wall, behind the headrests sort of thing, or will it have to be made into a sort of box shape
