Get off my lawn.
OK, I am not that new in car audio, but I have been "away" from it for about 10 years...
I now have a little toy I am working on, and want to put a SQ system in it with some decent punch, not much boom, but needs to be loud to drown out the trucks motor (Pro Street s10). Install will be done by myself so no worries there. Heres whats in my head so far:
Head Unit Alpine 9885 (purchased)
Amp Kicker zx550.3 (purchased)
Dash (If I utilize) Rockford Power 4" Coax hooked to head unit
Components Either PG RSD65CS or Infinity 6020CS ran off the 2 regular amp channels (not purchased yet)
Subs up in the air on this, but I am looking at Kicker CVR 8's or 8L5's (not purchased yet, but they will be 2ohm DVC and wired to show the amp a 2ohm load
What do y'all think about the plan?? Really looking for recommendations of sub choice. Room IS an issue, it is a std cab 89 s10 with bucket seats. Dont want to get boomy either, just good, tight bass for all the rock (sometimes country) music I listen to. I really dont think I have any questions on components, mainly just my inability to decide on a good sub that will give me the sound I want. No one around here even carries 8" subs let alone me having a chance to hear them. I DO have an old 8" RF sub that I put in my 98 Sonoma whan I want a little bass added, and it sounds allright. After the sub is chosen, then it comes to box design.. Sealed? or Ported?? I have never run a ported box in anything I have owned..
The stats on the amp are:
RMS Power: 2 x 70 Watt +1 x 210 Watt @ 4 Ohm
RMS Power : 2 x 85 Watt +1 x 420 Watt @ 2 Ohm
Number Of Channels: 3
Mosfet Powered
Tri-Way capable
S/N Ratio: >95 dB
18 DB BASS BOOST
Stereo or mono (bridged)
12 dB per octave high-pass/low-pass crossover
Bass boost (0-18 dB)
THD: .085
13.8 Volts
Thoughts?
