Hows it going this is my first post here on CA and im in need of some help, heres my situation.
I currently have my system installed in my trailblazer it consists of
-2 JL 12w6v2's
-1 alpine pdx 1.1000
-1 aplipne pdx 4.100
-eclipse components (sc6500 I think)
-boston acoustics coax in rear doors
-pioneer avic d2
The subs are in a sealed box that was built for them, all of this was installed by a local guy who came highly recomended about 1 year ago... the problem is that the speakers seem to be drowned out by the bass 90% of the time, and the quality is always all over the place when songs are playing. Im constantly adjusting the volume and the settings of my subs. I tend to keep my subs in the -5 to -3 range on my head unit so that I can hear whats going on with the music. It doesnt matter what Im listening to studio version of a CD, MP3 CD, IPOD, etc... and then there are random songs where everything sounds as good as I think it should sound all the time. Then there is the fact that some songs will sound sooooo quiet that I have to turn volume all the way up to hear anything going on in the hi's. example volume bar goes to 60... for some reason average listening with my setup would be somewhere around 38-45... but if I go over 49 after a few minutes the 4.100 cuts out and its bass only.
so i guess what im getting at is why does 1 out of 50 songs sound so good on my stereo? I listen to a wide variety of music electronic, hip-hop, dub-step, indie, metal, and its the same for every genre.
I suppose what I am trying to figure out what is the cause of this, do I need better speakers? do I need a more powerful amp?
a friend of mine has a 2.150 that I can get I was thinking of adding this and moving the eclipse components to the back and getting a new set for the front.... I would rather drop it off somewhere to get it done since I work 6 days a week and don't really have time to be doing this myself. People tell me to go to CARs in Greenwich but I'm not sure if shops will do work after someone else has already put a full system in. I have already gone in and spoken with the guy who did the initial install but he doesn't seem to understand what im talking about I think hes just older and doesn't fully understand how loud I like my music (he said its really loud already--- but I know people with sh!t equipment in their cars that sound way louder than me--plus I can hear my exhaust when I'm listening to it how it is sometimes). Im not sure on the model numbers for the speakers but Ill check when i get home from work tonight. THanks for any help you can offer!!
sorrry its so long, but i really wanna get this sorted. I hope this is in the correct section, mods please move if its not.
