Looking For A Sealed-Box 15" With A High Fs (30hz+)

Hi,

I need some suggestions.

I'm looking to buy a 15" subwoofer to put in a sealed enclosure, and I need it to play strong up to about 75hz.

I've owned quite a few subs in my time with crap-your-pants low bass output, but they all ran out of gas after about 60hz. I'd gladly sacrifice some low bass for some more output beyond 60hz.

Most of my friends have cheap mainstream subs, and the intensity of their subs output over 60hz puts all my past 15s to shame. I noticed that all of them had an Fs in the low to mid 30hz, so I'm guessing that's what I need.

One guy told me that higher motor strength helps a sub to play up higher in the bass frequencies, but I don't know what Fs range to look at for a 15" sub with a low-Q. With high-Q subs, I'm guessing that I need 30hz+.

I'm looking to spend no more than $350 -- and I'd prefer dual 4 ohm, but dual 2 ohm is fine if I have to go there. Btw, I have about 700 rms for power at the moment.

Please help me out, thanx.

Lower or higher fs really doesn't make a difference, just because a sub can play lw doesn't cut off it's upper point. Anyway anything with faraday rings will have a low inductance and low inducantance variations, which will give you higher output up top. You also want somethign with high sensativity as that is what determines ouput at 50hz+. Sealed means you want higher xmax as well. I'd go with a SSA Xcon with that budget.

Wow, thanx...that sub looks like a beast. Thanks for the advice as well.

I'm considering your recommendation, but I'm now also considering an AV15X. It's well under my budget. What is your opinion about that sub?

I run two AV15h's in my car, if that answers your question lol. 4.6 cubes at 25hz. They have great upper end response, technically up to 2000hz on axis lol. In a trunk the top end will get cut off at around 80hz or so, but you'll have great response up until 80hz or so, they will extend as high as your cabin gain will let them. I would have suggested it, but I didn't know if you really wanted somethign that costs 350 dollars or not. IMO, the XCON is not worth the extra money at all vs the AV and I'd spend the rest on deading or a bigger amp. If you want to go sealed with the X I'd do it in about 2 cubes or so.
