i like blackberry's the most, since ive used them for the last 3+ years, so im pretty used to the software. i do NOT want the storm. its garbage IMO, and i dont like it at all. im thinking about getting the bold or the new 8900 curve that is supposedly coming out (both for verizon i believe), apparently in a month or so.

currently the bold is only available on GSM. we just signed up with verizon so theres no canceling and switching. i currently have the 8330 curve, and i really dont like it, i had my 8700g blackberry on tmobile for over 2.5 years and never had a problem with it, i dont like the trackballs they all have now, i liked the old track wheel

and the fact that nearly every phone coming out now, especially with verizon, is touchscreen.

wtf

i dont like that, i want a full qwerty keyboard. i dont mind touchscreen, but its gotta have the keyboard

that being said, i was looking at the HTC Touch Pro. looks cool, i heard battery life on it sucks, and i really dont like the Windows Mobile OS. i guess u can say im not used to it, so id prally like it after a whlie, but i dont know.

any ideas? should i just wait on the bold/8900?

IIRC, the HTC got bad reviews. Talking to several people, the Storm is a true smartphone and the best out there that Verizon has to offer. I'm debating between that and the LG Dare, depending on how much each plan will cost, probably $80 for both before taxes and discounts from my work, and that includes pretty much unlimited everything on a 450 minute plan.

do not buy the storm then lol....i text a shitload, and its a horrible phone for someone that texts..i dont like all TS phones anyways..i like to have the actual keyboard buttons.

I've got the Touch Pro. Yea...battery life sucks. I typically leave mine hooked up to my PC when I'm not at home. Doing that...I don't run into any issues.

I loaded SPB Mobile Shell on mine and ran through a few mods. I'll probably load a custom ROM sometime soon. With some tweaks here and there, it can be a really nice phone. Disabling the HTC dialer (and using the standard WinMo dialer) will free up 10MB of RAM. Keep the programs running to a minimum and it should be fast enough for most anyone. You can change the settings so that by pressing X, it closes the program rather than minimizing it. Helps quite a bit (or you can have set it to press and hold X to close).

By using SPB Mobile Shell, I almost never encounter the actual WinMo interface. So if that's what's holding you back, I wouldn't let it. Head over to http://www.howardforums.com for some decent info. XDA Developers is also somewhere to look.

appears to be able to make calls...from HTC's website:

Network HSDPA/UMTS: Tri-band 850, 1900, 2100 MHz

HSDPA: Up to 3.6Mbps for download and 384kbps for upload UMTS: Up to 384kbps for download and upload

GSM/GPRS/EDGE: Quad-band 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz (The device will operate on frequencies available from the cellular network)

It won't go on VZW's network though.....

oh didnt notice the CDMA version from the HTC page. im not sure how verizon is anymore about putting unlocked CDMA phones on their network.... they use to be against it but maybe they've changed...
