I hate to do it, I see there are a few "Looking for new HU" threads already but I dont want to jack any ones thread. I didnt find the info i was looking for either.
So here it is, I started out with a Kenwood KTV 815 about 6 or 7 years ago. About 5 years ago someone broke in to my truck, in my driveway, cut my battery cable and jacked the stereo, amp and sub. Insurance replaced it with an Eclipse AVN 5510 which I loved. Last week that was jacked out of my truck.
So im looking for a new unit again. Ive narrowed it down to a few choices but im having trouble deciding which to go with. If anyone has any input on any of these Id love to hear it.
Im looking at:
Pioneer AVIC-Z130bt
Eclipse AVN726e
JVC KW-NT50HD
Kenwood DNX9980HD
I like the features of all of them from what ive seen in the videos. Lots of people have great things to say about the Pioneer. The Eclipse reminds me of what I had and seems like a solid unit. I like that the JVC has the detachable face, but im worried about the connection failing after a few years of use. The kenwood also seems like a good choice but the UI seems a bit weird. One of the biggest issues im having is finding out how old each of these units is, the manufacturers web sits dont show the production year, at least not that im seeing. Going by the reviews on you-tube im looking at units that are possibly 6 months old or older.
I think im leaning the most towards the Pioneer right now, any thoughts or opinions? Any newer models that I missed? Im trying to keep the price $1200 or below, honestly id like to stay under $1000 as im not sure yet if insurance will want to cover any of these or if they will cover the full cost.
