I don't have any experience with the others but scratch the CD5000 off your list....8V is what they advertise on the faceplate but it'll only do 5V before it starts to clip, at least that what mine does. Inside the users manual it's even published as 5V, so it might do 8V at full volume but it will be heavily clipped.

There are waaay more important features to consider when purchasing a head unit than pre-out voltage.

well i dont really know much about what to look for. i like my current head unit. its pretty good but i want to upgrade. I guess just let me know whats an overall good head unit that will out perform my JVC AR-880

i have an old panasonic deck with 4v preouts what would be the difference if i went to a newer alpine deck with 2v preouts?

Just get a good set of RCA's. 2v is fine. Proper grounding is

much more important for keeping noise out of your system.

i've never had a problem with my cd5000 clipping... and i think it sounds amazing, especially compaired to my old alpine deck... eclipse ftw.

my "8v" CD7200MKII just died on me after owning it less than a week...all that voltage must have fried it....
