ok i've been lookin at the jvc avx800 and the kenwood ddx6019

what im lookin for in one:

*double din of course

*touch screen

*usb input (so i can hook up a portable hd)

*dont really car about navi.

*willing to spend anywhere up to $600 maybe $700

basically im lookin for a double din thats capable of powering and reading a portable hard drive of about 80 to 120g's

i've read some forums on here where some head units wont power the hd because of the wire was to long, esp the kenwood's. does this also apply to the ddx6019? did anyone out there have any luck hookin up a hd to a double din unit?

JVC makes one forget the model number, but has everything you listed o yea KWAVX8000. should be under your price range. I used it a few times and liked it, except for the EQ, wasn't a fan. (compared to a pioneer EQ)

I just got the JVC AVX800 for 632 installed including dash kit/wiring harness/bypass(which is just grounding it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ) I

IIRC whenever you go to best buy or shop online make sure the HD is self powered thru the USB.You should be fine with the smaller hard drives.I've seen people with smaller(physical size) 160gb hard drive hook theirs up to the avx800 with no problems for the most part //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

naw that's a lil bit bit over my budget and plus it doesnt play dvd's.

i was jus thinking..... what about jus getting an ipod and calling it a day, lol. know im debating over a portable hard drive and an ipod. i think the ipod will have better navigation through files than the hd (correct me if im wrong). i will be able to shuffle the entire ipod as well as artist. i also like the fact that you can add a playlist, instead of waisting more memory on the hd by adding the same music you have on there already and adding it into another folder. i can store both music and video on each of em.

ok my new question is which double din around $600 has a pretty good ipod interface and allows me to view the videos off the ipod?????

Im pretty sure pioneers new indash double din will run about 500.00 retail, not sure if it has usb though. I'm pretty sure its a D3 minus NAV.
