looking for a better amp

i have a single Kicker L5 10" 2 ohm 450 watt rms 900 watt max and i was looking for a better amp then my Sony Xplod XM-1S 500 watt rms 900 watt max @ 2 ohms,

the sonys been smelling pretty bad when it heats up and has been taking out 40 amp fuses right and left i have a 60 amp fuse that has not blown yet, and its been clipping a bit here and there when ive been pushing it hard even though i have the amp gain at halfway

id prefer to stick with Kicker, Rockford Fosgate, or JL audio im on a limited budget and can get decent prices on those brands, also i may be adding another L5 in the near future

if its dual 2 you could get a 600w mono 1ohm pretty cheap, hifonics is pretty cheap but i dont know if they make anything that small

it wont do rated but 600w should be pleny, anything is a step up from sony
