scrap your 500 watt sub idea from your first post. Scrap the 12 idea too. A cooler does not have enough airspace to make those thump.Haha, my bad. I messed up with the phone. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
Ok, so the sub would on be on 100 watts or would you bridge 2? Also, I cant tell if you mean scrap just the sub and do a cheap sub aero ported or if you mean scrap the sub and aero and just use a sealed 12. Which 12 would you recommend?
Its fine. Im sorry just thought it wasnt a serious inquiry thats all. Hard to tell what real and fake over the internet.I was not trolling the post. I simply offered what I had. You didn't like it, fine. Don't make it into something bigger than what it really was.
Why couldnt I do 1 or 2 of Dayton Audio SD215A-88 8" DVC Subwoofer and wire it 2 ohms? Im sorry if its a dumb question.scrap your 500 watt sub idea from your first post. Scrap the 12 idea too. Subwoofer Drivers in the Speaker Components Department at Parts Express | 14 check out some of the 4 and 6" or 8"subs or midbass drivers here. They actually perform really well in a ported enclosure.
i'd bridge the amp if you are getting a D2 sub or two D4. You need to wire for a 4 ohm load if you bridge.
simple. Your amps will fry or go into protect because they are only stable down to 4 ohms when bridged. Why couldnt I do 1 or 2 of Dayton Audio SD215A-88 8" DVC Subwoofer and wire it 2 ohms? Im sorry if its a dumb question.
Well then, thats not good. So would you say 1 or 2 8's? Ill try to find a 4 ohm stable amp at 100 watts.simple. Your amps will fry or go into protect because they are only stable down to 4 ohms when bridged.
need to know how big the cooler bucket is.Well then, thats not good. So would you say 1 or 2 8's? Ill try to find a 4 ohm stable amp at 100 watts.
EDIT: Then does that mean I cant run 2 pairs of Pioneer TS-A6965R 6" x 9" A-Series Coaxial Car Speakers wired together so they only use 2 channels since it would be 4 ohms.
Oh, I didnt know the you can run the speakers and the sub at different ohms. Learn something new everyday. Here is a link to the cooler. Igloo 60-Quart Ice Cube Roller Cooler: Outdoor Sports : Walmart.comneed to know how big the cooler bucket is.
technically if you get an amp like the ppi p900.4, you can wire four 6x9 speakers two to each front channel. Then bridge the rear channels and run two 4 ohm dual voice coil subwoofers wired in series or one bigger 2 ohm subwoofer wired in series.
Lets say for example the precision power p900. It does 145 watts at 4 ohms and 225 watts at 2 ohms per channel. Means you can wire two 4 ohm speakers to a single channel and it'll have a 2 ohm load putting out 225 watts split by 2 speakers = 112.5 watts a speaker.
When you start bridging the amplifier, the lowest impedance you can go is 4 ohms. So If you get two 8 inch 4 ohm dvc subwoofers wire each speaker in series which will make them 8 ohms each, then wire them bridged to the amp, it'll split the 8 ohms down to 4 ohms a speaker which is stable.
You can do as much as you want but you have to make sure you are at the right impedance and make sure you have enough cubic feet airspace so you are not suffocating your speakers/subwoofers.
Yea, I know about that website. Used it before. Here is a link to what im trying to replicate ( I promise the site is legit despite the URL) motorboatyourself.com - River Cooler Radio 2.doneSubwoofer Wiring Diagrams
For future reference. That works for both speakers and subwoofers. You can use any amount of speakers and subwoofers as long as you are at the impedance that you amp can handle.
Box is gonna get stuck at the lid if its too deep, and you really dont have much room for a lot of speakers or subwoofers if your whole enclosure is at the lid.
Hmmm thats an idea. Would you cut out a hole in the bottom of the cooler or just have room about the sub and box for it to breathe. I like the look of the one i linked a lot though.looks good, My 2 cents though, subwoofer should be downfiring and box should be at the bottom. When a sub has something to load off of, it hits a lot deeper and gives a more surround type of sound.
