The Tumult is wayyyy above 400 dollars though. Id say RE xxx (older, used one) L7 isnt going to be THAAT much spl, unless setup for competition.

unless you find one slightly used a Tumult will fit close to that bill...and L7 no spl??

dont want to thread jack or anything, but how does an ascendant audio avalanche fit in here? i know it is a sq sub but doesnt it get loud too? is it comparable to any of the subs listed already?

Hey how are MA Audio for SPL?

Im looking at buying a 15" with 4000 watts, what do you think?

MA subs are definately geared for SPL over SQ. They are not a bad choice either..they are relatively cheap (compared to other SPL subs), and can get quite loud if you can provide the wattage. What model were you looking at in particular?

re sx 15 is loud and still sounds decent, one of the better daily spl drivers out there imo... an L7 15, orion h2, both in that category as well.. too much higher and you are aiming for comp subs
