The female drives a 98 CR-V and it gets her A to B. Lots of nifty compartments for storage. Comes with a false floor standard, if that appeals to you. Not the prettiest cars ever, but they get fair mileage, have some space, and seem easy enough to work with.

Personally, I like my Suzuki SX4 hatch. Lockable or sensory AWD, easy as pie to work on, easy to make loud, convenient spacing in the rear, etc. Around 23 city, 30 highway for unaltered ones. Mine has been lifted with some larger tires and averages 25.2+ combined city/highway. Downside would be that you would probably want to make the cabin a bit quieter if you have any SQ intentions. Not the most luxurious interior, but a lot of leg room, and all the normal features. For the price, I'm very happy.

Anyway, back on topic, why are you interested in a small SUV? You could get a midsized sedan with better fuel efficiency and a large trunk. Is there something about the open space you'd have in the SUV? I mean, you already said you were doing this for the possibility of a system, but do you really want to sacrifice 15-20% fuel efficiency for a bit more open space? I'm sure you could figure something out in a sedan, even if you end up deciding to do some kind of IB setup.

I was looking at Focuses but the CRV's caught my eye and I thought I may look into something a bit bigger like them and get higher 20's instead of low 30's for mileage...

Some kind of small hatchback will most likely be my next daily driven car. I don't really see much of a reason to get a big heavy SUV right now, and there are plenty of nice hatchbacks to choose from that would get better gas mileage than any small SUV you find.

I can't really recommend any small SUV because I don't really know much about them specifically. Like I said though, hatchbacks are good daily drivers.

Haha, if you'd hate to be seen in a Focus wagon, I'd imagine you'd hate being seen in a CRV as well. They're so very ugly.

He said gas milage.. I had a 06 TB.. worse car I have ever owned. The turn signal lever felt like it would bend like a straw
