lookin to run 2 alternator in honda civic

I am sure he could pull the power steering pump or the AC compressor to run dual alternators. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Of course next he will need to send his ECU off to a tuner to disable ELD. I am hoping my memory is correct and that generation of Civic has a P28 ODB1 ECU.

ODB1 came stock form 92-95. Only problem is the EX, Del Sol, and Si hatchbacks had the P28 whereas the CX came with a P05, the DX with a P06, and the VX with a P07. I am most familiar with the P28 because when I converted from ODB2a to ODB1, that is what I dropped in my 97 EX Coupe.

All disabling the ELD does is prevents your ECU from dropping your charging voltage into "low voltage" mode. In low voltage mode, the alternator will only charge 12.5 to 12.7 volts and for some strange reason, the ECU doesn't seem to pick up the draw on the battery itself. Others have told me it is supposed to pick up the draw, and kick the alternator back into high voltage mode, but I was able to **** my stock battery dry while driving around with the system cranked.

You will have to tell your tuner to disable ELD because that is an option in most tuning software. Also, I wish you luck if your car is an automatic because the tuners I dealt with would only tune ECUs for vehicles with manual transmissions.

not true...if you are running 1 wire alts the ecu wont be able to do anything to the alternator...you would also have to remove ac compressor...and mount 2nd alternator using that bracket or one you have fabricated.

i was thinking about runnin 1 alt now a shop wants to much money to put another one on, n if i get my ecu reprogram i can put a bigger bolt on alt all i need is a 190amp im runnin aq2200d n a few batt

I was looking into doing this myself till I talked to dc power and found out that one of the cases for a gm large case alt fit in fine (depending on where you get it from do to cooling and rectifier design) and can be made up to 320 amp. I wanted to do it running 16v for sub amp(s) and stock alt for 4 channel and standard car stuff till I found out that Exile amps are only rated for 12v power supplies. As for a second alt. Shouldn't be to hard depending on what you have I own a 93 civic cx (economy hatch back) no power anything so would be easy using power steering pump bracket. If you choose to go that route I suggest doing it right going on e bay and getting a manual rack not just running a power rack with out a pump as the manual rack is hard to come by (very sought after for racers ) and I personally like it better. As for knowing some one to do it sorry almost but didn't if I did I was going to start making brackets for people like us with my friends plasma cutter hooked to a C.N.C. machine. if you can't find some one write my buddy he has a d16 sitting in his garage its the guy I was going to have do it for me see what he wants to make the mount Custom Powder Kote - CPK
