Eminence has gotten a horrible name because of the bad installs its usually showcased in. With a good signal, and correct crossover points, the sound quality is actually on par with many other nice component sets imo. They may be a little harsh, but you cant win em all.

Down here in Florida, everyone runs Eminence... No clue why, but its just the thing to do. You GOTTA have loud mids/highs. I just love when the mids/highs are really loud.

Yeah, it wont sound the best if I throw some Led Zeppelin in, but on rap, where 99.9% of songs are just claps, kicks, hats, some synthesized lines and vocals, they are more then clear enough.

If he want to run eminence, thats his choice. Its not your money hes spending, your not going to have to sit in his expy for any given amount of time, if he enjoys them and enjoys the way they sound then none of us should care.

The bit I have boldfaced isn't a particularly common goal when folks are doing aftermarket car audio.

Most (but not all) users aiming for retardedly loud also want it to sound good when being played at retardedly obnoxious volumes.

Perhaps the average frame of mind in your specific locale is different - I don't know.
