SQ is the real deal
Just finished up tonight. does anyone see any problems with the way I wired this? I added another ground wire of 4 gauge for a ground since the factory used some shitty 10 gauge. I don't want to go hacking into anything because eventually I will trade this one in and want to convert back to original. I decided to install both batteries because the lights were dimming at night on bass hits and figured I couldn't really go wrong with a yellow top or two. I do have a question though. I had this same set up in my last car plus another amp and never had the lights dim on that vehicle. I currently only have on MB Quart RAA1000 on a single 12. Before I had a PG Xenon 1200.1 and a RAA4200 (1000 wrms more than I do now) I guess the only difference besides these things was a cap. I know just about everyone on here says caps are crap. Give me some thoughts.

i had some issues with my stuff, i have 2 yellow tops, a high output alt, upgraded wiring etc, so i knew of a good deal on an alumapro 15 farad cap, put that in and it did a lot for my system, everything sounded better and do voltage problems, i know a lot of people on here dont care for them but in some applications ive had they helped out a lot, not sure why they help some setups more than others but if it works it works ya know

also, do u have a higher output alt? that would help out a lot, maybe more so than 2 yellow tops, since the stock alt needs to charge 2 batts now, while the batts are being discharged, its tough to say without knowing what else is going on with your vehicle/system

Well I am fused AFTER but not before unless it is from the factory. Kinda of a funky setup. It is a Chrysler 300, sot he battery is located in the truck. It has 2 gauge from the factory to the rear battery. The car has a 140amp altenator from the factory. Kinda crazy that I have dimming witha 1000wrms amp with no other amps in yet. I will say it appears the 2nd battery does seem to help though. I got to believe a cap is going to help. What does everyone else think about have the batteries connected by 4 gauge for the 6-7" run that I am using it for? The terminals accect 2 gauge so I guess I could go cough up the money for a foot of each:laugh: The one thing that I am really curious about though, the positive wires are connected to one battery and the other battery has the ground. does that make sense? If not look closely at the pic and you will see what i mean. Would it be better to connect the ground to the "primary" battery or does it really matter?

The Head Room on the Alt is around 25amps The rest is for running all that FI and electronics. So its way low charging both batteries.

The Cap is just a crutch till you up the output on the alt.

Always if possable ground everything to the battery then to the frame.

i would say to upgrade the grounds as Team Hammer said, and then upgrade the alt if you can afford it, if not no biggie, just go for a cap and not turn it up b/c youll be abusing your electrical system more than anything, then save up for a higher output alt and maybe even some 0 gauge wire and once you do that maybe even keep the cap on since im guessing you have more amps to install so i dont think it would hurt, but then again im not electrical guru, but im sure someone around here can lend some more insight for ya

no, no massive dimming. I can just barely tell the headlightsare doing it but the green dash lights do it enough to be annoying. I have the batteries and the amp grounded to the same place which is to the frame. I will try to clean up the ground, it has that "galvinized" type material like fround on a nail....I will see if I can get thru that to bare metal and see how it works out. Matter of fact I will probably just pull out the yellow tops today and go back to the factory battery. I kinda did this as a test fit and it will be able to have everything back to factory spec in roughly 30 minutes. I am going to 'glass the wheel well and glass the battery tray into it while im at it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Cool, i glassed an 18 inside my friends charger in the wheel well, only takes up 4" of cargo room. we had to move the battery to the top left coner, the optimas just fit in there.
