Well, 14 gauge is a heck of a lot larger than the tinsel leads used, or for that matter the voice coil wire. Your house wiring is probably done with 14AWG. Don't get swept up with the hype you hear...my 600w rms sub uses 10 or 12
would you run 5000w to a sub through 14 ga?
