I am trying to create a logo for my site, I have these two, I like the second one, however my friends like the first one and say it owns( I built it about 5 month's ago while learning photoshop //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif ). Which one do you all like?

Or should I go back to the drawing board?

I like the 2nd one a lot better. Much clearer and looks more professional. I wouldn't go any fancier than that.

I see where your friends are coming from. As logos go, simplicity is teh win. However, if you use real alpha channels then I think the second logo walks all over the first one. =) It gives a wow factor when you import it into different colored backgrounds.

Like mine? 3 years old, photoshop not involved.

Yea, I think the simplicity of the second one will fit into most of my stuff, easy to work with, as with the first one... I would have to do alot of work to get it to fit on a dark bg

Alpha channels FTW! Really, I did it that way expecting to find the background color I wanted, then export as JPG (This was 2003, mind you. 8bit alpha was not popular) and just never finished. =) It makes blending a breeze at the cost of file size.

Of the two, I like the 2nd one better. But I still think you can make that one a bit better.

It looks a little too tall for me. I would say either slim it up height-wise or widen it up.

But definetly better than the original logo.

I just made it big so you can see it better. It will be about half that size on the site.

No offense intented but I think you should use a more original shape... I'm not sure where I saw it before, but I've seen that same shape on many sites.
Probably have seen it other places, maybe that was my inspiration, I may have seen it before, just don't remember seeing it. Oh well. If I think of a new one I will use it, but for now I guess I will stick with this one.
