LOC help

So I'm not that familiar with using locs, Infact this is the only one I've used.  It's a scorche, and it seemed to be working fine.  However I'll explain my question.  Going back like 10 yrs ago, I had a pioneer deck with preouts that I used, and a jl 500/1 and a 12w6d4v2 and I had it all in a Impreza, and I can remember it being like really like really loud. Since then I sold the amp and sub for a double din.  Anyways, so I recently I needed more bass in my life so I picked up another 12w6d4v2 and this time I got a jx1000/1, I have the sub in parallel so it's at 4ohms, and running like 700w pr something, yes I know the sub is good for like 450-500w.  Now the problem is it's not as loud as I remember, and I'm thinking the loc might have something to do with it.  I imagine the voltage coming out of the loc isn't as much as the deck I had before, and also it's all in a different car, a 2007 Infiniti g35x. Can anyone think of anything? Btw the loc is cranked to max on both side of it.

Thanks

The primary difference is the signal you are getting.  The LOC takes the output to a speaker and changes the voltage so it's appropriate for an amplifier.  The issue is that you get whatever signal the speaker gets - which may have bass removed.  Also, the gain structure may be difficult to get right.  Most amps have high level inputs which lets you bypass an external LOC and use the one in the amp.  That may help but it won't change the signal your tapping into.  I use an RTA to measure the output of a factory system and determine the frequency response of the factory system, that process is shown here:
