Little bored today

Well with nothing to do I got an idea, but I need some suggestions first. I have a CVR with a broken motor. The magnet is cracked all the way around and is offset by about a millimeter. I was going to take it and pound on it with a rubber mallet to see if I could reset it. Any tips, tricks, rants, suggestions, etc.
