Line Out Converter Issues

I am trying to install a JL Amp into my wife's XC90 Volvo along with a JL 10W1v2. I spliced into the speaker wires exiting the amp going out to the speakers. The LOC is a PAC model PDLC21. The sub pops and distorts too easily. I tried playing with gain on the amp and the LOC. Any ideas? Different LOC? Splice into wires before the amp? This *****, the stock speakers have more bass than sub I installed!!

1. make sure the input switch is set to SPEAKER

2. lower gain on the LOC and amp so you don't overdrive either input. sounds like you are clipping the input to the amp.
