I'm currrently looking at a PHOENIX GOLD TLD66 8 VOLT 6 CHANNEL LINE DRIVER/PRE-AMP my question is....Does a line driver let me turn down my gain (which in turns lets my amp draw less current to sound as loud as if they gains were up?) or does a line driver just take out noise? I only wanna buy it if i can what what i said above. If the gain on amp is turn downed does it just put out lower volume while consuming same amount of current? Bottom line is i have a sub amp that i want the bass to be louder without adjusting the HU bass +4 will the line driver make it louder without having to turn up the bass?

Line driver just helps if your head unit does not produce enough volts. Gain is basicaly a resistor, when you have it down it decreases the voltage seen by the amps input.

If you get a line drive and turn your amp's gain down your amp input will receive the same voltage, and will draw the same current.

When you say turn up the bass do you mean equilizer?

If you are adding +4 to the non fader, (subwoofer channel) you are fine with out it. But if you are adding it to the equilizer you are also adding it to the full range speakers, that may cause them to distort or become damaged.

oh ok well i have a pioneer d3 preouts only 1.3 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif and yes i was talking about the equalizer and can anyone explain why the high level input makes my amp on my highs sound louder than my rca's? couldn't tell a difference on my sub amp and it's pouring today to test

i was only adding it to the sub channel i have the eq to basically put out little to no bass to the speakers

ok thnx so i would be better off getting this then.....http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300226367621&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=020
