Today I heard that adding a line driver to an amplifier with a non-stock deck (pioneer premier) will give you more spl. Does this work? And what are some brands?

Short form, no. I guess in the right system its possible. But if gains are set properly on the amps than it should not raise your volume level

Only time it will "increase SPL" is if the person who installed the line driver failed to properly reset the gain for the higher preamp voltage.
