Limbaugh :"I want Obama to Fail"

In which one of those situations would a gun have benefited them? In most cases people are caught by surprise and unless you have it on you (which you need a license for) it wouldn't do you any good.

Better to lie down and prepare to die then?

My point is that only one of those situations was a home invasion in which the owner might have had a chance to actually use their gun. You can't carry around a gun so the other incidents don't mean anything. Shit happens and it always wil. I rather take my chance of getting robbed then have a bunch of kids walking around thinking that they're cool because they can carry around a gun legally. I don't think anyone should carry a gun around unless they've had extensive training (like off duty police officers). I'm sure there's been a ton of murders with domestic violence and house parties where the owners have gotten drunk and kill somebody.

Some have interpreted it to mean the national guard, the modern iteration of what the founding fathers envisioned as a state based, regulated and properly trained force in place to resist should the issue of tyranny in the federal government ever arise again and an organized force needed to be in place for that eventuality, as well as to assist the federal military in combatting foreign threats. Though it has become something different this was originally considered a sort of check and balance against if the federal government ever decided to pull the same things we fought the revolution over and uses the military as a tool to those ends. It has of course evolved from the older concept of the state militia and is now considered a reserve force for the military. This started shortly after the revolution when the federal government was given a certain degree of control over state militias in the event that the need for the manpower arose.
Duh? But what does that have to do w/ anything? All it says is that each STATE should have it's own militia incase we need to take care of Obama //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I don't actually hate the man that much...!

Here's a simple reading for you people who think GUNS are a BAD Idea!

A Little Gun History

Return to Gat Guns Home Page

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million 'educated' people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in:

* Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent

* Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent

* Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!

It will never happen here? I bet the Aussies said that too!

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late! The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind him of this history lesson.

* With Guns...........We Are 'Citizens'.

* Without Them.....We Are 'Subjects'.

During W.W. II the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!

Admiral Yamamoto, who crafted the attack on Pearl Harbor, had attended Harvard University 1919-1921 and was Naval Attaché to the U. S. 1925-28. Most of our Navy was destroyed at Pearl Harbor. Our Army had been deprived of funding and was ill prepared to defend the country.

It was reported that when asked why Japan did not follow up the Pearl Harbor attack with an invasion of the US Mainland, his reply was that he had lived in the US and knew that almost all households had guns.

If you value your freedom, Please spread this anti-gun control message to all your friends!

The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing.

You are assuming the person who robs you will in a perfectly clear, rational frame of mind and that they care whether you walk away safe. (You give me the money, you walk away, I walk away, we are both happy.)

Nowadays they're just walking up, taking your shit, and killing you anyway just for the hell of it. It's happening more and more. If your choice is to put your hands up and comply I respect that but realize, it isn't guarenteed to benefit you anymore.

But the argument was about constitutional rights. Now when I give you an interpretation your only response is 'so?' and then to throw statistics from around the world at me? So do we really care about the constitution or do we just want guns because this country was founded with guns and for whatever reason, we want them?

By the way I have never said that I am all about any sort of bans but I acknowledge what makes sense in both sides of this argument.

The statistic has everything to do w/ our constitutional right to bare arms what are you missing!?

You also said in another one of your posts that we shouldn't be allowed to even bare arms!

You totally FAILED on your response there.

Scratch the part I said "you also said in another on of your posts that we should be allowed to even bare arms!"

That was somone else!

why do people's motivations for wanting guns matter? it's our right. it should stay our right. the solution is obviously in the middle, somewhere between both extremes.

we all know the stellar reputation illinois politics has.
Yah and unfortunately I've been dealing w/ it for awhile and my parents even longer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

But now the entire US gets to YIPPEE for you guys!!!
