Lights dim alot and...

yeah i was actually thinking about doing the big 3. Allright so i need to ditch the cap, and either do big 3 or extra batt. Now i have a monoblock amp, would i be able to connect an extra batt to that?

How would adding another battery to the system help with the voltage drop? Get the big 3 and a new alternator; adding a new battery without upgrading your alternator won't make anything any better.

My stock 90 amp alternator was able to charge 3 extra batteries fine....im sure his stock alternator could charge an extra yellow top. If not then he knows he needs a new alt. Besides its a lot better than a capacitor.

If you think a 90 amp factory alternator can keep 4 batteries fully charged, you're delusional. All that adding an extra battery does is allow you to be able to run longer with the car off. When the car is running, i.e. when the lights are dimming, the alternator that's having trouble keeping one battery charged has to work harder to keep another charged. That doesn't make any sense. Your system runs off of the battery, and usually, it drains it pretty quickly. Therefore, if the alternator cannot charge it fast enough, i.e. voltage drop, another can't help.

OP, instead of buying an additional battery, swap your battery for a deep cycle battery and upgrade your Big 3. Better than a cap, and better than having to buy another alternator.

if you got the cash then a new batt is the ideal fix, but the cap might work. worth a shot since its lying around.

like the post above says if you buy a deep cycle that will help alot. i just assumed you had one already since you already said add another batt.

my civic is running about 1500rms with deep cycle batt and 3 farad cap and everything runs great.

You know, if you want people to take what you have seriously, it helps to not act like an idiot.
for some, that is just not possible. he may not be "acting" like an idiot. hes probably a real idiot. ha ha
