Confined to Reality......
Hey everyone,

Ok so Since I learned that My two CVRs both have one blown VC, and I have two CVX on the way, I decided to hook it up my half blown CVRs to my lightning audio amp and see what happens... I figured that since I paid 160 for the pair that I was going to get some use out of them even if it ruins my subs further and my amp (its only a lightning audio). So They are wired in parallel and they are 2Ω DVC, creating a 1Ω load on the amp (I am not 100% sure of this), now I have this amp which is not rated to be 1Ω stable. So I hooked them up to it and drove to work yesterday and they worked, severely underpowered but it worked BTW: its an hour drive to where I work. So what is going on here? is that amp really 1Ω stable? I drove again today and its still working fine just really underpowered. I was thinking this thing was going to blow a fuse or just blow out all together but it is still going.

BTW: I test ran it before I drove it to work, lol I didn't want my trunk catching on fire as I was commuting to work lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

IIRC Lightning audio is Rockford Fosgate's dumbed down line for the sake of cost but I wouldn't have guessed that it would be 1Ω stable... even for a little bit...

kinda off topic but is pyramid made by a larger company or is it its entirely own separate company?

Wow it looks as though you are right, I looked up the amp in your sig and the spces seem to be pretty good but are they over rated or underrated? You wouldn't happen to have the birth sheet for them would you?

Theyre a tad underrated. I've ran mine hard and had zero problems. I got the X1.2000.1D benched... it did 562w RMS @ 12v, 4 ohm load. It's rated at 600w @ 14.4 v, 4 ohm load, so it ought to be right at or a hair above rated power. I've got it pushing a 15" L7 and it can abuse that sub.

For lack of technical terms I have done a nice little diagram on how my subs are wired within my box. Red dot is the clip that goes to the outside of the box.

Then on the outside of the box I have 14awg wire running from the clip (sorry for not using the technical term, it has slipped my mind...) to the two back channels of my lightning audio amp.
