Let's get the *capacitor myth* tested on MythBusters!

I want to see the capacitor myth/theory set up and tested scientifically on MythBusters. Who's with me?

Maybe we can slow down the spread of false information within the car audio community about how (specifically) large "stiffening" capacitors (added to the power delivery system) supposedly improve amplifier performance. (yes, we know that amps use capacitors internally, duh)

(when their forum server comes back up) Log in and comment about it on Discovery's forum here:

So far the 2 responses are showing the saturation of misguided information/assumptions, but as usual, nobody has any actual proof one way or the other.

With enough interest in the debate, I'll betcha' we can get it on the show.

Cheers,

I really don't feel like having the same old debate with new people who really don't have much, if any, interest in car audio to begin with......

Just give them some links to the millions of times it's already been discussed on here and the 20+ other audio forums.

I just want to see it on the actual show. Every time I hear some idiot off-the-cuff prescribing "huge capacitors" as a way to improve performance or fix electrical system problems, I want to puke.

Maybe with exposure like MythBusters gets, we can start to turn the tide on the misinformation being spread by car audio n00bz like the Circuit Shitty sales dork.

i concur with mr squeak. although, if they were able to put together a well thought out test for it, it could possibly show some proof to the arguement. one thing that no one on here, or that i know of, has done...

it would be kind of neat to see an un-biased well put together test on this matter. although, i couldnt see the mythbusters crew testing it in the manner that we would want to.

I actually like that idea //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

They can do a little blurb about how much they cost and then show how worthless they are //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

theres no myth there. im also shure you dont understand the use of a cap. as they are in amps in the first place.
you apparently dont understand the argument, dont know how you could have that many posts under your belt and you still dont have a comprehension of the arguement...

but its about the improper use of capacitors, not the proper use of them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Exactly. Its not a discusion of if they work, its the myth about what they will do for you.
