so about 15 mins ago, i went over to my neighbor's house (the one with the avalance in the sofaclosure) to get some solder cause i had run out. hes somethin like 29, early thirties or something and he's extremely smart and a good woodworker. so hes like david, i want to show u somethin. so i'm like aight what is it. so he has these two boxes on the ground by his paradigm towers with sheets over them. he was like i want u to tell me which is the 15" and which is the 12". so i'm like ok wtf is this. so he starts playing some music and after about a minute of switching, i was like, the one on the right is the 15", no joke. left is the 12". so he's like, are you sure (looking disappointed)? so i'm thinking this is fcking easy, why'd i just waste my time so he goes over to the left box, pulls up the sheet and shows a 12" paradigm sub. i'm like this is retarded, i need to get home. then he's looking real sad and plays another track, and i'm like dude thats a 15", just lemme see what driver it is so i can go home //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif . he then starts smiling, turns off the music and lifts up the sheet. hes smiling alot more and then i figure out why. his "fifteen" is really one of these:

in a huge folded horn box. that junk sounded so good...i can't even believe what it sounded like. this has just inspired to build a folded horn subwoofer. does anyone have any designs? PLEAAASE? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

The Decware Imperial Horn would be the way to go (28 cubes! hoo-ah! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif) but there are plenty of other designs out there.

Pretty impressive what a horn can do? There's a reason why they were popular back in the '30s with mono radio consoles - usually driven by single-ended triodes.

Everything old is new again.

wow i would love to get some plans to mess around with. "hey dude what are you running that sounds awesome" "Oh, i'm running an 8" i picked up for 20 dollars"
