Legs for a box...Louder/Cleaner?

The point of using speaker spikes is to basically "ground" the box with your home. Any coloration caused by box vibration can usually be lessened by coupling it to the floor. In a car, it would be absolutely worthless as your trunk will be jostled around by simple road noise and uneven pavement.

true dat! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

haha its funny that you say that, my sides on my box didnt fit so i had to cut new ones and the only way i could make it work with the wood i had left was to make the sides about an inch longer so its going to have to stand off the ground. This kinda pissed me off at first but thats when i realized theres a lot of home theater boxes like that so i figured it couldn't have THAT much of a negative effect. I'll see how well it really works though, hopefully i'll be done by the end of the day. First box build btw.

why not test it out? i'm sure it doesn't cost that much more to put legs on the bottom of your box.....if it doesn't work just take them off
And by it not working you can risk flipping your box over and destroying the cone on your sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

The mounting spikes are used in home audio to lessen tactile sensations....you don't feel it vibrating the floor, making it seem more focused and "small". This won't have the same affect in a car with a trunk mounted subwoofer, since the tactile sensation in a car isn't from the subwoofer resting on the floor of the trunk but rather from the intense amount of sound pressure levels shaking everything in the car.
