Just got everything installed and it sounded great for about a week.

I have a JVC AVX33 and a kicker 700.5

yesterday the left front channel cuts out - ive reversed the RCA's at the amp and it works fine which leads me to believe its not the speakers / crossover.

heres the weird part, when i turn the volume way loud, that side "pops" and comes back on. but only stays on until i turn the radio off.

what could be happening here?

check ur connections praticullarly at the speaker and crossover and pull out the DMM and see what ohm load the speaker connections have at the amp and check em at the crossover and drivers to see if there are any bad connections.

Joe

edit: try putting a portable mp3 player into the rca inputs to see if it is the source unit/ rcas

when i reverse the RCA's at the amp, it happens to the right side instead of the left side. wouldn't this eliminate the crossover / speaker as the problem?

im assuming that the source, amp and wiring are potentially culprits.

ok all, ive checked the connections and they are all good.

The problem is the same, periodically it cuts out completely only on one of four channels.

when i set the fader to that side and crank the volume, it "pops" back on - not really with an audible pop, but its like something was 'stuck' and the higher volume made it come back on.

wtf is going on ?
