Late Model GM Truck

I think you expectations of those speakers is too high.... not too sure what your trying to achive

I had a quarter of the money in my last system. Sounded awesome. How can my expectations be to high? Im trying to achive door speakers that don't sound like ****.

I understand and wish I had some advice to give. Fought this same battle before and gave up. In for some advice though, good luck.
What all did you try? I am thinking of spray on deadener, but I don't know. These hard plastic door panels are terrible. Thought about spraying the back of these with many coats. But, Now I think some of it is in the floor. When listening to people talk (on the radio) it feels like if I was bare footed it would tickle my feet. These trucks have such thin sheet metal compared to the past I might just want to give up too.

Oh ya, I also thought about making a foam gasket around the speaker, between the speaker and door panel. I noticed the factory speakers had them. I wonder if sound doesn't get behind the door panel and bounce around. there is a pretty good gap between the speaker and door panel. Who knows??

These trucks **** for sound quality, that's just how it is if you are using the stock speaker locations. If you want it to sound better you need to relocate the speakers, I just deal with it in my silverado

Meh on all the deadening stuff. Heck, if a factory speaker sounded *good* off the factory head unit then there is no reason, in my opinion, that upgrading to higher quality speakers cannot produce the same and better results.

All the dead I g stuff is great. I usually go the whole nine yards myself if the door panel is already off why not. It's aggravating to me baca use my factory speakers sounded and blended great, had excellent mid bass and got pretty loud.

Only other thing I'm going to do next is run active. I'm working on that right now. Also I'm going to disconnect the tweeters from the passive crossovers and put them back on uh power.

Actually, all speakers will be disconnected while I try to tune my door components. Man I'm so frustrated. I'm hoping active is going to be the solution.

Good luck, I'm following your thread.

Staynlean, I will keep working on it and let you know if I find anything substantial. Please do the same. I may take a week or so off of this project. Its making me crazy.

I have a Tahoe 07 with fiberglassed door panels is the only way to get real good sound I have 4 10's and 2 super tweets in each door active and it sounds great

your system was in a different car, your expecting too much out of it. it wont sound the same as it did when you had it in your old car. period.

so are your after more volume?

raise your sound stage?

increase your midbass?

more info is needed bud, saying they sounds like shiiits doesn't help us help you

So you coated the back of the door panels with fiberglass? Or put fiberglass insulation in the doors? I saw a guy do the insulation thing on here. Thought I might try it.

I'm not sure what you are responding to. If you go back and read the whole thread, I have explained what I am trying to fix. I have got a lot of help from others. We got this.....bud. Thanks

If you are using factory wires could the stock crossovers that was wired in be holding you back some? I know the tweets gh ave them, do the mids get crossed over or are they full signal? Just a thought

I cut the door panel right below the handles so there still there then I used birch wood as a backing and build rings. I then clothed and fiberglassing the whole door panel sanded it and bondo it then have an interior shop re-wrap in leather

I think the factory cross is mounted right on the tweeter. So when the tweets came out so did the cross. I may be wrong. The guy that did the install is pretty good. I will ask him about that though. Thanks

Oh ya, and I have had the cross on the mids up and down. When I give them full signal they seem to handle it fine. I just really think Im fighting the truck not the stereo. Thanks again.
