SUCCESS!!!! I switched the RCA's for the sub into the 4ch rear speakers while playing a 60hz test tone and they got signal so that canceled out having bad rca's. Then I checked the voltage of the speaker wire (never could get a reading on the RCA's AC voltage) all the way back to the sub and it was all around .4 (is this low???). So then I re-cut and stripped the speaker wire and eureka! The whole time, they just weren't making good enough contact with the voice voils. They were wired correctly, just not enough contact....
Well, thank you all again for your help and even though it was a pain in the *** I learned a lot about wiring and especially measuring voltages/resitance.
