38hz is way too high for what I like to use, but it may be nice for others. In my own ride I'll never tune over 30hz again...just too much unbalanced output going from 45-50hz to 30hz...I like a smooth transition. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif38hz tuning? Would that be good for the music I listen too?Never tuned that high...only tried 32hz so far.
Parden my ignorence but what is the +3-6 db gain?yeah most people want the +3-6db gain at the peaks tho..
I have designs that are tuned lower as well but I like the peaks in a vehicle but tune at 24Hz for the house lol
It's the 3db to 6db gain that you can get by tuning higher. This could also be referred to as the "peak" in the response curve. You'd have to tune pretty darn high(for a daily box) to get a 6db gain in your response curve, but tuning even 5hz higher can get you about 3db's more than what the "flat" tuning would be. It all a trade-off though, tune higher and your low-end suffers, along with there being a noticeable difference in loudness between frequencies/songs. Tune lower and you lose some loudness, but you get that low-end extension and a smoother response curve.Parden my ignorence but what is the +3-6 db gain?
I agree, but some people don't mind it...all personal preference I guess.wouldnt it be better to tune 34hz or below for daily, then if its not loud enough upgrade?
i mean dont get me wrong i like loud and all but i dont want it to sound crappy and be loud. rather just go up a size, add another sub, better subs, etc.
30-32hz with those SA12's will suit you well.Well I listen to mostly music with alot of bass, so figure the 30hz tuning would be right up my alley.
