Laptop to tv computer helP!!

When i hook my laptop up to my tv, I lose ALOT of picture quality.. ALOT!! Is that normal????

Also, when I ask Windows to identify which is monitor 1 and 2, the number 1 comes up on my laptop and tv?

tv's have a very low resolution..

your TV is prolly 640x480 ...
