Degrees are definately not overrated. you need something good not a fake degree like communications, phsycology or stupid **** like that. get a real degree like engineering, biology, nursing.

right now im studying for my dental admission test to get into dental school and because i have a 4 year biology degree im working as a substitute teaching at my cities public school district. i can choose to work 5 days a week or 1 day a week. there is no bosses, meetings, you will never get laid off, etc. get paid 150 per day and i always have 3-4 free periods.

try getting going to school for something in medical field, hell you can even do dental hygienist all you need is a high school diploma to get into school for that.

try getting a job doing security, working at a doctors office, as an dental assistant, theres tons of jobs. i was jobless for 4 years because i ddint want to work minimum wage while i was in college and studying but i could of used the extra money but decided id rather concentrate on pursing my degree first. all of my cousins, and my brother is in medical/dental school. its great

and also my dad never went to college only has a high school diploma and he makes a great living, makes about 250,000-300k a year. he started working as a mechanic then working at sizzlers. then he worked a photo studio and ended up starting his own photography/videography business ever since 1986 till present.

i know a few sanitation workers. they make like 75 grand a year and insane benefits... my dads closest friend is a retired sanitation worker and finished at like 98 grand a year. he now makes over 100 grand a year from retirement and benefits and all this stuff.

It is a big commitment. But it was the best decision I have ever made. I really enjoy. I wish I had went into the Air Force instead of the Army. They have a better quality of life because they spend more money on housing and stuff like that. But you get to do more fun stuff in the army. My wife has only shot a weapon once in her 6 years. I go to the range ever 3 months and have shot all kinds of cool weapons. I work as a satellite controller now and could make great money working for Boeing or Lockheed Martin. But I have 8 years in almost 9. Gonna stay in for 11 more and I can retire. Can't beat it. Now is a great time to join because the wars are drawing down so you don't really have to worry about deploying like years past.

Hell me and my wife are both potential cuts along with almost every other E3-E6. You and your wifes 120K per year is due to where you are. Here in AZ being a E6 and her an E5 we are making ~90K.

Hell me and my wife are both potential cuts along with almost every other E3-E6. You and your wifes 120K per year is due to where you are. Here in AZ being a E6 and her an E5 we are making ~90K.

Location definitely has a lot to do with it. My last full year in I pulled almost 75 solo in AK. But with the military if you're making more yours going to be spending more due to the COL for the given area. Financially I wasn't any better off than being in Kentucky or something and making 35 a year.

Move to an area where a house costs under 40K, you can go out for dinner for under 10$, and a pack of smokes is under 15$. Plenty of places you can live very comfortably for less.

Not saying we won't have some type of war. There will always be war. But the optempo and frequency of deployments will not be what it has been in years past.

And are you joking royalblue08 about it ******* to be in the military because of the pay. Keep in mind that making that 60k a year is after taxes and I have to pay zero money for benefits for myself or anyone in my family. That is a gigantic expense for a lot of families. Me and my wife have enough Money to basically do whatever we want within reason. With our enlistment and re enlistment bonuses and deployment money we paid cash for a 200k home back home in North Carolina which buys a very nice home. In NYC 60k might not sound like a lot, but if I were stationed in NYC I would get around 3k a month extra just for housing and also a bonus pay for cost of living in that area. So I would make more than 60k there
