L7 vs type R power handling

I can get both subs for relatively the same price and wondering which 15" woofer out of the two would handle more power better. I'm planning on purchasing a pair and giving them anywhere from 1200-1800 each and just curious if one will take the power better than the other. I've heard stories of a 15" type R taking anywhere from 1500-2500 RMS, and same stories with the L7s. Music is of type rap/hip-hop.

Also, do L7s need bigger enclosures than Rs to perform exceptionally well or are they relatively equal in necessary size of the enclosure.

LOL 1500-2500 watts of audiopipe power maybe...

IIRC The L7 is rated for 1000 watts, I'm not sure about they type R, but it isn't nearly that much... So to answer your question the L7 will handle more power...

i wouldnt knock the type r i had a pair on a a aq2200@ 1 ohm and they took the power fine.

^ not knocking them, I just wouldn't recommend trying to put 1500 watts+ to one for any extended period of time...

Everyone over powers type R's...when I first came to this site, any person(s) on here who weren't competing were all recommending the same thing...type R's

Kickers do require a large box. I've got two CVX 12"s in 4.48 cubes net tuned to 30.6 Hz. A 15" would want an even bigger box. I don't believe Rs want a box quite as large.

wouldnt knock the ap amps they do rated power unlike brands such as hifonics...

the type r's will handle the same amount of power as the L7's....i wouldn't feed them no more than 1200wrms to be safe....the L7 15" will require a larger box than the type r....iirc the L7 will need between 4-6cuft where as the type R will work fine in around 3.5-4cubes.....the advantage of running the L7 will be that it has more cone area than the type r, due to it being a square subwoofer.....but both options are solid subs, and you should be fairly happy with either one.....
