L7 Enclosure

I have a single L7 12" kicker. I blew one out and my new one is in the mail. My box was ported and too small for the power I was pushing through it. I have a Rockford Fosgate Type RF X6 amp rated at 850 RMS and the L7 is rated at 750 watts RMS. The box is quite small and it is tuned way too high to work. I am either going to buy a new one or build one. I want something tuned around 40 hz. Someone linked me to the power box here http://www.proboxrocks.com/superbass/112SQSPB.shtml which looks pretty nice.

I am wondering, what kind of box do you guys recommend for an L7 with this much power running to it?? Sealed or ported?? What size??

my L7's work best with a box size of 3.5 cubes before port/sub displacement...in my ford escape i have 2 4" aeroports on each sub...and the total lenght of each port is 13.25"...and its peaking at 43 hz...and im running a viper 2500.1 on each one @ 1 ohm..so its some serious power goin to each one...before the vipers i ran 2 american bass cx1500 amps, 1 on each rated at 1590 watts max each amp...and they played fine with no problem forever on those amps. so you can throw each L7 a good 1000-1500 watts and it'll take it with no problem, depending on the enclosure.

*blink*

you're running two viper 2500.1s? at 1ohm? they are only 2ohm stable. Even if they are running at 1ohm how the hell are those l7s handling that ammount of power. Hell the rms rating on the solo x is 2500, I know the l7's are a ton less than that.

I inquired about the pro box to them and they haven't responded yet. It looks real nice but I imagine it is quite expensive. I was looking further on ebay and I found a ported box that is a lot bigger and is tuned to 38 hz. It says it matches kickers specifications for street bass. What do you guys think?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...ssPageName=WDVW
yea...those boxes are customade for L7s, i have my s12l7 in that, and its really good, the only thing is that the port is on the side so its not as loud as it can be, if u can find a port in the front then definitly go with it

I have a fairly large amp and I would like to mount it on top the box. Is that a good idea or will screwing into the box make it weaker and possibly lead to breakage??

I am going to be pushing a lot of power through this thing.

you can mount it, my KX25001 is mounted to mine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I am worried about my speaker hitting so hard that it breaks the box.
