L7 15" louder than D2 15""?

i had an earlier post asking people about their d2's, and one of you said that he had an l7 15" be louder than his d2...

is this because of lower powered amp on the d2? (i dont know what he has)

with equal power going to both, which sub do you guys think will have more spl?

nope, we tested it here at the shop against all of our subs. The L7 is louder than the SI 15. But let me tell ya, The L7 sounds like poop, so who cares how loud it is :thumbsupw :thumbsupw

True that, 15 L7 is loud as **** but I heard one with a JL500/1 up to it and it actually sounded pretty good.

L7's are pretty freakin' loud.

But, everyone one I've ever heard sounded like an amplified fart.

Based on my experiences, they are the worst sounding subwoofers I've heard to date.

My friend has 2 L7 12's tuned to about 40hz in Bronco, and they are LOUD, but they sound pathetic. All the people at my job, myself included, say both were just slightly louder to the ear than my one Crystal x2 15". And everyone agreed my sub sounded WAY WAY better.

Anyway...I've heard L7's on about 3 or 4 occasions, and every single one of them sounded HORRIBLE, even sealed. IMO, they are peices of garbage that should only be used for SPL purposes. Plus, some friends of mine said their corners have worn out.

IMO.. Kicker L7's = Worst sounding sub ever.

I dont have 15's I have 12's. So no I'm not just saying that cause I have L7's. You see that's why people say they are so bad, because they here other people saying it and then they get the idea that they sound bad, so they start telling it to other people. It's actually pretty sad. TRUE, that L7's are gonna sound like *** if you put certain songs on. Some examples of shitty bass comin off of L7's include the new Rubber Band Man, that song just plain sux *** on L7's. BUT, if you put something more like Luniz, I got 5 on it, Twista Overnight Celebrity, and omg, it gets clear. THEY ARE HARD TO TUNE, I'll admit that, but when you get them tuned just right like me and my pals they sound better than what all of you claim.

Any decent sub has the ability to sound good, it just requires knowledge to do so. L7's included.

what were the numbers if yall used a mic and how many cubic ft. and how much power?

have you ever heard audiobahns, those things are way crappier sounding than l7's, and some rockford fosgate subs to, but every speaker has the potential to sound good, its all in the install when i had my l7's in a sealed box they sounded way louder than my type r's and almost cleaner to with the same power going to them

In both subs, i only used 1 box spec, which was the factory recommendations for each, and gave each 1200watts in a ford explorer. If i remmeber correctly, the mag was in 4 cubes tuned to 38, and the L7 was in 4.5 tuned to 38. Now im sure more testing can be done with different box sizes, but this was just a one time thing, so all you SI fans dont get your panties in a bunch. 144.5 centerdash with the mag, 147.7 centerdash with the L7 on a new AC mic. Ahem, let me clear this up. It was my post about comparing my 15d2 to other subs I've heard. My friend has a ported L7 15 w/ a 1000BD. My 15" mag is ported w/ a BX1500D. His is in a focus hatchback, mine is in a Toyota Solara. The acoustics in that car are great, the bass hits so incredibly hard, we both agree that it's slightly louder than mine. He and I also both agree that the mag is the superior SPL sub, but his car is set up much better than mine for bass.
