Ha, he didn't listen before and blew the amp. Now he won't listen again. Although it may get repaired, it's not going to be the best way to do it. Just get it repaired so you can blow it again.

They told me to upgrade to 0 guage. So guess what? I upgraded to 0 guage. The next day the amp fried.

Just upgrading to 0 gauge wasn't gonna fix your problem. You have a 120 amp alternator. Thats no where near enough to give a 2500+ watt amplifier enough juice.

There were other members on here running it on a smaller alt than I had. Also I do believe several people saying that upgrading to 0 guage should get rid of my problem.

Explain to me why the amp didn't fry when I had 4 guage going to it. Then the day after I get 0 guage it fries.

Something eather shorted out or maby something else like a bad ground?

But that amp should have ran ok on his set up. Was he getting the most out of the amp hell no but still good enough to run it.

That is kind of what I thought too. I was looking for something that might have shorted out but I couldn't find anything. I didn't mess with the ground. It stayed where it was. It is grounded under the latch that holds my trunk close. It is also sanded. 0 guage wire also.

No. How would I do that? I'm sure with a DMM. Would I put it on ohm? If so would it be "200, 2k, 20k, 200k, or 2m"?

So what happens if you waste money buying mosfets and the amp doesn't work because of something else?
I think you fail to realize how painstaking and time consuming it is to fix an amp, especially having to replace all those mosfets. Just to replace the mosfets you have to pull the whole board out of the casing, desolder all the joints, insert new mosfets, then have to resolder all those joints.

You can send the amp in to kicker, they will go through the amp and determine how much it will cost to fix it. They will call you with the repair price and ask if you WANT to get the amp fixed. If it IS too much money, then just have them send the amp back.

What would be your guess on how much it would cost to get it fixed? I would like to kind of get a general idea so I know whether or not I want to ship it off and pay shipping charges and then end up not getting it fixed and having to pay to ship it back. Or if I should just try to find someone locally to fix it.

I would hope that the dmm isn't capable of actually measuring that resistance:crap:

i didnt read the whole thread just enough to get the jist.....

it sounds to me like your amp was going into protect mode due to voltage drop. even though your alt is 120 amps( max probably) it wont put out anywhere near that at idle hell not even while driving around will it put that out.

It could of been your ground. I fried one of my older amps with a bad ground. Got dimming with a 600 watt amp and i redid my ground and now i have a sundown and get no dimming or any problems at all.
