kx2500 going into protect..

alright. Got the wire in and put it in last night. Everything worked good. I didn't turn the gain up any but it wasn't shutting off even with the headlights on and the heater on. Drove for about an hour and never had a problem. I woke up this morning and turned my car on and the amp immediately entered protect mode in and out of it, even with the volume all the way down. So I had to turn my cd player off. I got out of school, started my car and turned my cd player on and it once again immediately went into protect mode in and out, so I turned my cd player off again. I got home and popped the trunk and the amp had some smoke coming out of it. I checked the connections and everything looks good. The fuse under the hood is good also.
Smoke=not good

oh also. I dont think it is kicking into protect mode. It is powering on and off. I dont know why I didn't pay attention to this but what is happening is my cd player is powering on and off and on and off causing the amp to of course come on and turn off.

I guess the first thing I am going to try is takin the fuse out to see if the cd player will turn on properly with the amp unhooked.

What confuses me though is it worked just fine last night.

alright the amp is fried. Cd player works fine with the amp unhooked. Hooked the amp back up, as soon as the cd player came on there was a loud pop and smoke just rolling out of the amp.

I wonder how much it would cost to have kicker fix it?

you'll have to get ahold of kicker and get an RMA # and send the amp in. They will call/email you and let you know how much it is going to cost.

The price will vary depending on what is the problem. On a side note, you may want to troubleshoot your system and figure out WHY the amp fried.

I still say that your electrical system isn't strong enough even though it was playing fine with the 1/0 wire.

I once had a kx850.2 and I accidently got water into the vent and it smoked. Today that amp is still running fine and is probably being treated like shit because my buddy is pushing two l7 15's with it:)
