Kriss Metering Results

Just got my Kriss SPL Meter tonight, figured out how to get it to work and metered the setup on a few songs. It did 146.0 on music (airforces), and I can hold a 141 for 60 seconds, voltage staying above 13V. I've read that these meter identical to the old Termlab, and are accurate, just off from the new TL. I've also read they read anywhere from 3-7 dbs high. I will be getting the setup metered at a show on Sunday, so we will see how this meter compares with the TL.

I'm going to do more testing tomorow and find the peak, and then burp it with a test tone, so we'll see how much higher that 146 goes.

wow, just did a little more testing. this box tuned to 39 hz peaks @ 43 in the car? i've never heard of anything like that. with throw it up i can bassrace a 141.5, peaked @ 43/44 with a 146.3.

as i said before we will get this thing on a TL Sunday and see how my scores differ with this Kriss meter compared to the new TL.

i have an old kriss meter as well as a make it louder meter,a AC190 and a termpro. Mine is an old one but even when it was new it still read several db higher then the AC,sounds like they improved them alot. One thing i knowticed was that the higher your spl was the more it was off from the AC and termpro. How much did you pay for the kriss?

$140 shipped. it says on it calibrated in 2003, whatever that is worth.

dam did i get burned on mine:( i got mine back in 2000 i think,,for $600.Does yours take two 9 volts and hook to a DMM?
yup, it sure does. do you know if they all read the same, and exactly how far yours is off from the TL?

the stuff in my sig did 172.4 dbs in the port according to the Kriss meter, so I assume that number is a little high.

well, metered a teammates setup today. he did 144.1, he said he is doing 141-141.5 on the TL. in the port he did 170.3, he's doing 166-167's on the TL. So I think its safe to say (as a guideline for now) that its 3 db's off the TL.

i moved the box to the back of the trunk today, peak frequency dropped to 42 hz, score went up to 146.5 on the Kriss. so i think its safe to say i'm at 143 plus or minus a half a db. not too shabby a score for 2 10"s in a trunk.
