Knuconceptz fuse and distribution block problems

Hi there

I just got the 3 fuse distrubution block and the " konfused " ground block system from knuconceptz for my install. All my wiring is knuconceptz and i havent had any problems up to this point.

On my compression fittings, they arent tight even when screwed all the way in. I double checked the amount of sheath i cut off the wire, and even tried cutting more/less to see if that affected things. No such luck. The wires will spin in their so called compression fittings. The worst is the 8 guage, it spins freely like it was a some kind of bearing or something!

Do i need to add some tiny washers inside so that extra space will be taken up (then wire will be compressed on the end and fit tight)? Is there some trick to this? Very frustrating, seems like there might be a machining defect or something....

Did the blocks not come with some washers? It seems to me like they were supposed to, but I'm not sure.

Regardless, I have heard nothing positive out of those blocks. I've literally read 5 posts in diyma where people complained about them stripping or not fitting right.

Good luck.

X2. Been hearing the same stuff on DIY and other forums. To bad I wanted to run Knu to. Be looking else where now. Wire is still suppossed to be top notch though.

Hmm, this is weird, considering Knu is nothing BUT a wire/wire accessory company.. I don't think they'd send out bad products..

Just my opinion.

Possibly user errors?

Have you used one? I have. It was a piece of junk. The connection method is ridiculous. Even if you get it to start properly without cross threading, you have to make 1/4 turns because the plastic platform that the block is mounted to prevents you from being able to turn a wrench any further. Then on the output side you get to contend with not only the plastic but also the other terminal to prevent you from being able to move.

There is a reason that nearly every other distribution block uses set screws of some sort. They are simple and they work. After messing with the Knu blocks for awhile I just ordered some stinger blocks from Darvex which installed in seconds. You also don't need to carry a wrench around to work on your connections. One multi-bit screwdriver in the glove box will handle my whole electrical system.

Knu's other products have been great, but this "Konfused" (aptly named) distro system is not worth the trouble.

Actually the only problem I had was the 0ga nut would hit the plastic base. You are correct about only getting to make small turns as well, that does kind of ****. They are a good solid connection when done correctly though. Set screws just worry me sometimes, I think they are going to come loose and burn up one of my amps if the wire comes out and touches something metal.

i ordered some distro's as well and i must say the connection system is crappy. They strip out really easily. It is possible it will work if you are very very very very very careful. But it probably still wont work.

pshh i love the blocks cut enough ofthe wire to go over the threaded part then screw it in mine are tight as can be with out the wire slipping at all

Yeah, the design of the blocks pretty well ****. They're solid once you get them together but that takes hours to do.
Yeah, it took me a while to get them set up (longer than it should to set up a power and ground distro. block), but they work well for me. Not really a fan of the design either though.

I have the battery terminals, they work great. So does the wire and the RCA's

Only the ground block and fuse blocks seem to ****. The threading does require you to be VERY CAREFUL. I havent had any problems stripping them...yet.

Ill experiment with shimming them internally. If i find a good fix, ill post a follow up.

Thanks for the help so far...
