Please dont nut-hug KNU. Im just curious about it.

Ok so i have been looking at this KNU KCA 4 gauge wire.... and it doesnt look like 4gauge to me... It looks quite a bit bigger compared to other companys that offer 4 gauge, hell i looks to be about the same size as the "Bullz Audio 1/0" wire.

Has anyone actually measured or compared to see what the actual size/gauge it is? I know that standard 4awg gaauge is not this big, and KNU wire is always bigger then what is "rated" to be?

I have some KNU 4 gauge,8 gauge, and 1/0 in the garage. If you want a picture of them all.

It probably is the same size as bullz 0 gauge lol. Great wire and fit in my AQ1200 4 gauge terminals just fine. I have no idea what standard 4 gauges exact size is though so I cant really say according to that.

I've got some sitting next to me, so I figured I'd stick a ruler across the end. It's 3/8ths of an inch in diameter.

I don't know what the standard AWG sizes are. I'd imagine it's a bit oversized, as they advertise. I do know it's nice wiring and wonderful to work with.

see i was going to just get a roll of the bullz wire, its really not that bad of wire for the price and run multiple runs of it to make up for what it lacks. Then i seen a pic of the the KCA 4ga and was like d@mn thats the same size really(the actual wire vs wire part not counting the jacket) lol, if thats the case i figure i should be able to run multiple runs of it and have the same outcome in the end. Idk if it would work that way but i figured it would.

If you're running multiple wires you'd need to fuse each one, thus negating any savings you thought you might've made.

i dont run fuse's, i havnt ran them for a few years with out issues(knock on wood). I know its not the best idea and im not going to recommend it but i dont. But if i did i know i have to fuse each

I was planning on multiple runs of KNU for new setup but figured I'd be better off replacing my current run of KNU 1/0 with 2/0 sky high.
i see lol.. i was thinking about just doing 4 runs of the kca 4ga but then i thought about it i would hate to get it then it not be as big as i thought lol

I've got knu 4 gauge now in my car. Really impressive, flexible too. I've got another order of by 4 gauge coming in tomorrow. I'll throw up some pics once I get it.

my only worry is it not being big enough tho. It may be big but its only rated like 100amps by KNU, and i know the bullz will handle what i need it to with multi runs, when its all said and done it need to be able to hold up for atleast 250amps. Well maybe 200amps, the most i really plan to run is 2500watts

I run 4 Gauge KCA at the moment. Its too big for my Rockford Prime 1200 4 gauge inputs. Great wire for the price imho.
would 4 runs(2positive & 2neg) handle 2500watts rms?

I don't see why not. My single positive run handles around 1300W without any issue. I would advise fusing it since it is CCA.
i dont run fuses, and have always ran cca i just pay close attention to voltage for spikes etc. I havnt ran fuses for a couple yrs now with no issues(knock on wood lol). For now it would only be supporting maybe 1500 watts. I know for 1500 you can use 80-100 amps for say. But once i get the other amp i would tune them for 2500 so that would need about 175-200amps maybe 250. but idk

Yeah, should be OK with the two runs of 4 gauge, ofc would be best. And I would fuse it too, since you are going to be running it close to it's limitation.

But from what I read, 2 runs of 4 gauge it's roughly equal to 1 gauge. The general rule of thumb is doubling the wire increases gauge by 3. 4 and 4 makes 1, 8 and 8 makes 5, and so on
