Kinetik HC vs Optima Yellow Top

Explain to me what you mean by not using full wattage? Ur going to run it at 1 ohm i assume...and the obly one i have is the one in my car sorry honey
Keeping the gain down on the amp. At least i'm not running 2 aq2200d's on stock battery + 1 kinetik 2400 like my brother is.

So in theory, how many watts can a Yellow Top handle?
I'm not sure been trying to figure that out myself but the yellowtop AH is 55.

I dont think your are supposed to jump start any Gell cell
Yeah, I found that out. I wish I would have known that before I decided to do it. It wasn't the end of the world; my car isn't my daily driver. I was without a battery in there for about a week when I shipped mine out and the new one came in. Good thing I bought mine when they had a 3 year replacement, not that 3 year pro-rated crap they have now.

Sears Die Hard Platinum is the same thing as Odesey. I use one of those under the hood, performs well and Sears has a good warranty on batteries and it's easy to find a location to get service. IMO unless you're chasing 10ths in competition there isn't a ton of difference and your best bet is to stick with whatever has a good warranty that will be easy to claim if something goes wrong.

Just for what it's worth, I've heard Yellowtops are absolute beasts as a starter battery and coming back from the dead, but aren't that good as an audio battery really, even though they are the go-to battery. I don't remember WHY this was said, and if I had to guess it was Ryan from RAM Designs that told me this, but I'd actually heard it from a couple people.

Not saying you're wrong or right I don't know enough about batteries, but that's a broad statement got some further theories on why?
reason since i live in Minnesota they don't last through the winter, had a yellow top and red top two different years both winters they died..had one of my kinetics of 2 years and resting voltage is still 12.9 and works great.

FYI,

I read somewhere, years ago, that Yeloow Tops are rated at 800 watts. And in my experience, mine was not a beast for starting in Canadian winter, always had just a bit of turning over trouble at below -15C, factory battery turned over better. It lasted around 4 years under the hood.

Go Kinetik. I have had nothing but problems with Yellow tops. one had a cell go bad for no reason the other over heated and about blew up in the car. Just my opinion but any company is better than Optima for a second battery.

Chances are you were a noob and finally learned something by the time you got the kinetik

I've had my 2400hcs for going on 5 years, unless they changed recently they ate excellent batteries..

deep cycles have a high esr. this means that the discharge/recharge is going to have much more lag so to speak.. it's going to discharge slower and recharge slower..

the only reason the deep cycles last a while is because their capible of being discharged and recharged way more times than a low esr aka car audio battery..

the battery will only discharge when the alternator can no longer supply the demand..

it's works good with the high output batteries but if you have a huge load on them and they discharge you will kill them..

it's always better to buy a alternator, but I'd suggest getting the low esr high rate discharge battery if you can't, key is to makes sure the load never fully discharges it..
